Vision: Simulation as a global information model
The dictionary defines a simulation as follows " A computer simulation is an attempt to model a real-life or hypothetical situation on a computer so that it can be studied to see how the system works. By changing variables, predictions may be made about the behaviour of the system. ".
This definition has now evolved. While simulation has been used for a long time in order to study, predict or validate, we believe that in the next decade, it will become an ubiquitous technology in every domain of engineering.
Simulation is no longer as "nice to have", which can only be used as a pre-study tool or the technique of last resort, i.e. a post-mortem analysis application. Because computation power has expanded significantly, because simulation technologies have accompanied this expansion and that the state-of-the-art, in this domain, is inherently dynamic, numerical simulation is becoming a key technology, able to represent a global information model.
Virtual machines, factories, systems, or humans are appearing and make simulation an indispensable problem-solving technique and method. The computer today is constantly trying to simulate the world (environment, systems and humans). Simulation, as a tool, will be used in projects for visualization, communication and information calculation, making it the choice computational approach to problem solving.
