7.7.2008 HPC Project will present a paper with Parallel Geometry, at GeoWeb 2008, in Vancouver, Canada. The paper is entitled " Modeling, Rendering and Parallel Architectures for 3D / 3D Geoweb". See the conference website for the abstract, and registration information. See the press release here.
3.7.2008 Pierre Fiorini , winner of the national contest for the creation of innovative technology companies
Happy winner of the 10th Latin edition of the contest, Pierre Fiorini convinced the jury with a project that should be a milestone in the history of major developments in information technology.
HPC Project, the company created, aims to market a system which, coupled with a PC, turns the latter into a true office "supercomputer,". The system includes both hardware and middleware.
Pierre Fiorini approach is based on a simple fact: hardware architectures are evolving and application software have increasing difficulties to adapt in order to make use of them. As Pierre said: "The physical and economic limitations of the density race of micro-processors have led to new multi-processors based systems. Unfortunately for users, applications are not able to take advantage of this potential power. This is where we apply our technological know-how. This should accelerate painlessly the execution of the users applications."
The most relevant applications are those consuming an important amount of computing power. They include image processing, data modelling and numerical simulation.
HPC Project is based in Montpellier and has an office in the Paris area.
6.2.2008 HPC Project announces a partnership with KXIOP, a leading Management and Strategy Consulting firm. Kxiop has created a network of alliances with partners specialised in complementary fields to which HPC Project will add specialized consulting services and technological expertise.
5.2.2008 HPC Project is proud to announce the hiring of Thierry Porcher as Director, research & development. He will manage the R&D team based in Montpellier, in the south of France.
"Thierry Porcher is a strategic hire for us," says Pierre Fiorini, HPC Project’s CEO. "Thierry brings a deep expertise in both the management of experienced developer teams, and an understanding of the complex fields of supercomputing and parallel computing. We know his talents and expertise will help us achieve our goals and deliver high-quality software and consulting services."
Thierry graduated from ENS Cachan. During 15 years, he held several positions in the supercomputing field for Defense laboratories: French MoD then CEA/DAM (military applications directorate of the French Atomic Energy Authority). He's an expert in supercomputing, parallel computing and artificial intelligence.
Prior to joining HPC Project, Thierry was in charge of managing the national supercomputing resource center (CINES) of the French universities.
