01.09.2008 - HPC-Project has been accepted as a member of the Rensselaer Incubator Program.
This program is the oldest incubator programs in the US sponsored and operated by a university. In this operation, HPC Project has benefitted from the strategic partnership established between the Montpellier Business Innovation Center and RPI Incubator Program.
"We are honoured to become part of this program. The RPI Incubator has proven many times in the past to be an excellent booster for young companies in the field of high technology” says Pierre Fiorini , CEO of HPC Project– “The contact with RPI top-level research environment will enable HPC Project to bolster up its innovation capacity".
From this base, located in the heart of one the best engineering community in the US , HPC Project strives to better serve its customers in North America .
About RPI Incubator Program
Rensselaer 's Incubator Program was founded in 1980 as part of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Its mission is to enrich the academic environment and to stimulate technology transfers. The Incubator Program manages a total of 4000 square meters of office space and is housed in the J building Incubator Center at the campus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
7.7.2008 HPC Project will present a paper with Parallel Geometry, at GeoWeb 2008, in Vancouver, Canada. The paper is entitled " Modeling, Rendering and Parallel Architectures for 3D / 3D Geoweb". See the conference website for the abstract, and registration information. See the press release here.
3.7.2008 Pierre Fiorini , winner of the national contest for the creation of innovative technology companies
Happy winner of the 10th Latin edition of the contest, Pierre Fiorini convinced the jury with a project that should be a milestone in the history of major developments in information technology.
HPC Project, the company created, aims to market a system which, coupled with a PC, turns the latter into a true office "supercomputer,". The system includes both hardware and middleware.
Pierre Fiorini approach is based on a simple fact: hardware architectures are evolving and application software have increasing difficulties to adapt in order to make use of them. As Pierre said: "The physical and economic limitations of the density race of micro-processors have led to new multi-processors based systems. Unfortunately for users, applications are not able to take advantage of this potential power. This is where we apply our technological know-how. This should accelerate painlessly the execution of the users applications."
The most relevant applications are those consuming an important amount of computing power. They include image processing, data modelling and numerical simulation.
HPC Project is based in Montpellier and has an office in the Paris area.

Dr Ronan Keryell joins HPC Project as Chief Scientific Officer
Dr Keryell has over 25 years of research and industrial experience in parallelism and high-performance computing. He holds a post-graduate degree from the Ecole Normale Superieure and a PhD in computer science. An associate professor in the Computer Science research center of the Paris École des Mines engineering school (ENSMP/CRI) and in the Telecommunication engineering school in Bretagne, Dr Keryell also worked with the computer science lab of Paris XI/ENS. Ronan Keryell is an internationally recognized expert in compilation, code development and system-on-chip design for high-performance computing. Especially, he co-developed PIPS, a world reference automatic parallelizer and code transformation framework. He published more than 70 articles in the fields of High Performance Computing architecture, compilation & parallelization and security for High Performance Computing.
"There are very few people who have the scope of experience that Ronan has in directing science in this sector " said Pierre Fiorini, president and CEO of HPC Project."Part of the skill base he brings is his ability to understand this environment that has been moving significantly over the past ten years. Ronan has been working with the world top-level laboratories, and understands the challenges of High Performance Computing better than most researchers in the field. “
As CSO, Dr Ronan Keryell will have responsibility for planning and execution of HPC Project's scientific objectives, and building relationships with the most advanced laboratories in the domain.
Paris and Montreal , April 11, 2008 - HPC Project, a pioneer developer of tools and strategies for high-performance computing and code optimization, and Parallel Geometry (llgeometry), a world leader in symbolic geometry for high performance modeling, visualization and spatial simulations, announced today their strategic partnership. 5.2.2008 HPC Project is proud to announce the hiring of Thierry Porcher as Director, research & development. He will manage the R&D team based in Montpellier, in the south of France.
"Thierry Porcher is a strategic hire for us," says Pierre Fiorini, HPC Project’s CEO. "Thierry brings a deep expertise in both the management of experienced developer teams, and an understanding of the complex fields of supercomputing and parallel computing. We know his talents and expertise will help us achieve our goals and deliver high-quality software and consulting services."
Thierry graduated from ENS Cachan. During 15 years, he held several positions in the supercomputing field for Defense laboratories: French MoD then CEA/DAM (military applications directorate of the French Atomic Energy Authority). He's an expert in supercomputing, parallel computing and artificial intelligence.
Prior to joining HPC Project, Thierry was in charge of managing the national supercomputing resource center (CINES) of the French universities.
